NEOSPACE EXPLAINED PART 2

The real problem with space
How space is usually decided

For decades, interior space has been treated as a solved problem.

A label is applied:

  • office
  • classroom
  • apartment
  • student housing
  • café
  • lobby

Once the category is chosen, the solution is automatic.

Office means desks and meeting rooms.
Café means counter, tables, banquettes.
Residential means bed, sofa, wardrobe.

The category does most of the thinking.
The outcome is predetermined before anyone asks what the people in the space actually need.
